Crockett Ward has worked as a professional improviser since 2013, with The Misfit Monkeys, Southern Arena Theatre, Sterling Renaissance Festival, Skip-The-Skript, Improv at the App, and in a Cedar Point world-premiere. In the early 2010s, Crockett was one of the leads for the Mississippi Arts Commission training in how to incorporate theatre/improvisation into the classrooms of educators. Before certifying as an Intimacy Director to create trauma-informed theatre through Theatrical Intimacy Education, Mr. Ward earned his Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance from The University of Southern Mississippi. Crockett pursued post-graduate certifications with Dueling Arts International for six weapons as a Level 2 actor-combatant and as an Apprentice Teacher. Crockett also serves in Region IV as a Respondent for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival to deliver performance feedback to college students. Most recently, Crockett taught internationally at An Tain Arts Centre, M.A.D. Youth Theatre, and ENCORE Performing Arts Society (adults with special needs) in Dundalk, Ireland, as part of a cultural exchange.
Since moving to East Kentucky in 2023 to become the Director of Education & Outreach at The Appalachian Center for the Arts, Crockett was awarded a 2024 Appalachian Arts and Entertainment Award (an “APPY”), recognizing his excellence as the Best Acting/Drama/Speech Educator across 2,000 miles of the Appalachian region. He has also been nominated for another in the 2025 awards season.
